Additional information

This paper describes BT-Nurse, one of the outputs of the EPSRC-funded Babytalk project; it expands on an earlier paper published in JAMIA in 2011. BT-Nurse generates English nursing shift summaries (for a neonatal intensive care unit) directly from a hospital electronic patient record system. It was the first Babytalk system to be deployed and evaluated live in a hospital ward. Many of the concepts developed in Babytalk and BT-Nurse are being commercialised by Data2text (data2text.com) and Arria (arria.com); see case study sections of both websites. Prof Reiter is Chief Scientist of both of these companies, which work closely together.
