Architecture design of a user-orientated electronic laboratory notebook: A case study within an atmospheric chemistry community
<27>Computational modelling is crucial across science and engineering, but user-friendly frameworks for auditing simulations have been lacking. Here, through a combination of rigorous user-centred approach and an appropriate semantic provenance model, good community practice was encoded. The design and execution of simulations are now traceable by independent scientists via a usable interface. Consequently, plans are underway for adoption by the atmospheric chemistry community. Following up (doi:10.1109/ISORCW.2012.33) in STRAPP (TSB/Rolls-Royce, £0.5M), we extended our approach of supporting the quality management process to include risk assessment, with concrete applications in monitoring systems technologies, supporting the move toward certifying Equipment Health Management systems.
