This paper is the first journal publication on the patented design of textured insulation. Parallel to the paper submission (and patent application), an EPSRC research grant was developed based on this research. Subsequent to publication of this invited paper, the patent was granted (GB2406225), with some further revision based on this work. Also, the EPSRC application was ranked top at the EPSRC panel and funded (EP/F02844X/1). This research was presented at international conferences (ISH and ICHVE2010). Following further work and publications in this area, discussions are now on-going with Cellpack to implement this patented idea on high voltage cable terminations.
