This paper proposed the first universal analytical expression for predicting evaporation rates of droplets accounting for all physical properties, overturning existing theories. The paper also revealed a new dimensionless number, Sefiane-Bennacer, SB (discussed by V.M.Starov@lboro.ac.uk) which dictates transitions between regimes of evaporation. This work formed the basis of an EU funded international consortium involving UK, Switzerland, China and USA (2012-2016, 400k Euro, PI: Sefiane).
