Additional information

Gladston was 70% responsible for the editorial work on this special issue and wrote 85% of the 8,000 word extended editorial essay with Hill. His contribution stems from two research projects conducted in the People's Republic of China between 2005 and 2010: one into avant-garde Chinese art groups of the 1980s and another into critical discourses associated with the making and showing of contemporary Chinese art. Findings from these projects not only appear in the editorial essay but also strongly informed editorial decisions regarding the inclusion of work from other authors who contributed to the edition.
