Additional information

<07>Passive haptics augments a virtual environment with physical objects. This results in a more realistic touch experience but presents challenges in terms of mapping the virtual environment onto the object. This paper uses space warping to overcome this challenge. It is the first paper to apply space warping to interactive medical training. The work was a collaboration with a spin-off company VirtaMed (funded through the Swiss Commission for Technology and Innovation). The underlying technology has been filed as a patent with the USPTO. IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics is the second highest in Computer Graphics (IF 2.215).
