Additional information

<10> The paper investigates a generalisation of the communicating P system model, an important topic in membrane computing. It introduces a compositional approach to building complex systems, and provides better links with Petri nets models than any prior work. The model has been further developed by key research groups in the field, e.g. Universities of: Eotvos Lorand Budapest (Csuhaj Varjú Erzsébet <csuhaj@inf.elte.hu>), Debrecen (György Vaszil <vaszil.gyorgy@inf.unideb.hu>), Paris 12 (Sergey Verlan <verlan@u-pec.fr>), leading to funded projects with IIT India (RAEng 2011), Hungarian Academy of Science and Eotvos Lorand Budapest (RoyalSoc 2012).
