As suggested in the title, this article draws on two specific methodologies - those of contextual analysis and textual analysis - in its approach to interpreting and locating the narratives within and around the television series Pen Talar. Each of the authors concentrated on one of these approaches. Contextual analysis was led by EHG Jones and textual analysis by K Woodward. Both authors discussed and contributed to each other's sections and both conducted the (recorded) interview with Sion Eirian (co-author of television series) in January 2011.
