Additional information

<08> Data flow programming languages often have strong expressiveness restrictions to enable compilation optimizations. This paper is significant because it shows that high performance can be achieved even for an unrestricted data flow programming paradigm, OpenStream, by relying on a new compilation scheme. An empirical evaluation shows significant performance gains against state-of-the-art parallel programming environments. The OpenStream project, and this publication, have been featured in the HPCwire magazine (http://www.hpcwire.com/hpcwire/2013-01-24/the_week_in_hpc_research.html?page=3).
