Additional information

This paper introduces a new modeling method for underwater acoustics. Using a number of techniques, including spline approximation, low-complexity implementation is possible allowing real-time simulations. Verification is performed against real ocean data (obtained by Acoustics Institute, Moscow, Russia, and in SWellEx-96 experiments by Scripps Institution of Oceanography, USA). This is the first time such transmission can be implemented to perform in real-time, thus providing invaluable tool for designers of underwater communications, sonar, and navigation systems.
