Additional information

The main contribution of this paper is an explanation and overview of how maintenance can influence energy consumption in commercial refrigeration systems. This work was funded by the UK Government (DEFRA) and included collaboration with a number of food producers and other institutions. The resulting conclusions are of relevance for both refrigeration system providers in terms of designing more efficient systems and to refrigeration operators including producers and retailers in terms of reducing energy consumption and thus, costs.
