Significance of output:

A key step forward in dealing with the efficient propagation of uncertainties through engineering analyses. The aeroengine sector increasingly has to quantify the impact of manufacturing and operational variations on key components and the computational expense of using Monte Carlo schemes is mitigated by stochastic reduced basis schemes. Part of work directly funded by Rolls-Royce via their University Technology Centre over a 15 year period. Has lead to the improvement of robust design methods deployed within the company.
