Significance of output:

Accurate prediction of global natural frequencies, and associated mode shapes, of boats is important in determining the occurrence of resonance, and its consequences (e.g. response due to slamming). The significance of this paper, together with its sequel on the dynamic behaviour of this boat in waves (*), is the provision of a rare example on how to properly and accurately model fluid-structure interaction for non-slender special type of hull forms (e.g. made of FRP and having significant local structural components).
