Numerical simulation of liquid sloshing phenomena in partially filled containers
Significance of output:
The study of liquid sloshing is critical both to industry and environment (e.g., in LNG transportation which is expected to grow by more than 50% by 2030). Study/control of sloshing induced impacts is challenging due to the presence of strong flow interactions with its container. In this paper, a numerical method based on a level set approach with no special treatment needed to describe the free surface has been developed to enhance reliable predictions and modelling of liquid sloshing in partially filled containers. This research was supported by Lloyd’s Register University Technology Centre, School of Engineering Sciences Southampton.
