Significance of output:

This is one of the first papers to give an empirical estimate of the contribution of aviation to personal carbon budgets when international travel and radiative forcing are taken into account and to highlight the uneven distribution of these emissions. It builds on the ESRC funded Integrated Travel Emissions project (RES-000-22-0564) in which Preston was the Principal Investigator and on subsequent doctoral research undertaken under his supervision. The findings of this work were submitted to the Department for Transport’s consultation on its Carbon Reduction Strategy (see Low Carbon Transport: A Greener Future, July 2009).
