Adhesion estimation at the wheel-rail interface using advanced model-based filtering
The work concerns a concept that is both highly innovative at an international level and scientifically- challenging. It uses novel model-based approaches and is supported by the UK rail industry's Technical Strategy Leadership Group (contact James.Hardy@rssb.co.uk ) because it is of potentially high impact in terms of helping the rail industry worldwide to manage substantial operational problems arising from "leaves on the line" every autumn. The industry Steering Group for the project has now approved the next step of full-scale track testing to provide experimental validation (contact Gladys Udeh, Gladys.Udeh@rssb.co.uk).
