Additional information

This volume marks the half-centenary of Louis MacNeice’s death by publishing eleven radio scripts he wrote and produced during his twenty-year BBC career. The selection explores his literary relationship with classical antiquity, from wartime propaganda work using ancient Greek history to lighter entertainment programmes creatively bringing ancient stories alive for a broad public. As lead editor, Wrigley contributed the substantial general introduction (‘Louis MacNeice, Classical Antiquity, and BBC Radio: From Wartime Propaganda to Radio Plays’, 1-30), co-edited all scripts, co-wrote individual script introductions, and compiled the Appendix of all extant MacNeicean scripts and recordings (to stimulate further work).
