Additional information

This paper reports the results of a finite element modelling study on the stability of knee joint implants. The study provides new insights into potential mechanisms through which bone cement layer used to stabilise implants may fail. This new theory of bone cement failure mechanism may lead to more efficient design and application of joint replacement techniques in the future.
