Additional information

For the first time, a methodology was developed and applied to estimate nanoparticle emissions and associated health impacts in a megacity. This new methodology is a valuable tool for scientific community, policy makers and regulatory authorities to assess such impacts in other megacities and design mitigation measures. “Nature India” wrote a full science story on the findings (http://www.nature.com/nindia/2011/110829/full/nindia.2011.125.html). This work also initiated awareness among the environmental community in developing countries (e.g. India), leading to invited talks, the UKIERI (UK-India Education and Research Initiative) grant, and numerous publications with Indian colleagues.
