Double-weighted statement

This book recovers the life and work of an important but almost entirely forgotten Welsh-speaking artist and writer. It situates his works in the social and economic history of south Denbighshire, about which very little was known, and in the history of tourism in North Wales. In nearly five years of full-time research some 80 landscapes represented by Pugh were identified and perambulated, and undigitised newspapers, other printed sources and parochial and county records in three county archives and the NLW were thoroughly explored, as were the vast collections of landscape prints in the BL, NLW, YCBA and elsewhere.
