<09>This is one of the very few studies to correlate naming convention violations and code quality, providing evidence when authors need to argue for the importance of naming conventions, e.g. to motivate their work. As such, our work is referred to by major researchers in the software maintenance/comprehension field: Binkley and Lawrie (ESE journal 2013), Tonella (WCRE 2012), Devanbu (MSR 2011), Maletic (ICPC 2010), Geheneuc and Antoniol (ICSM 2010) and by researchers in other fields, e.g. static analysis (Pradel, IEEE TSE 2013), web services (Rodriguez, Journal Web Engineering 2013), modelling (Aguilera, Data and Knowledge Engineering 2013).
