Double-weighted statement

This monograph reshapes the discipline of Latin epigraphy, by exploring the development of epigraphic cultures in the Roman world in different regions and cultural contexts. It covers a broad chronological sweep of many centuries from Republic to late Antiquity. Instead of examining Latin inscriptions as historical source material, it focuses upon understanding the social, religious, economic, and cultural contexts that generated them, challenging conventional ways of categorizing inscriptions. Part Three involved extensive data collection to compile the Appendixes on consular fasti and imperial titulature, and the sections on epigraphic corpora.
