La Mala Vida: Special Issue of Journal of Spanish Cultural Studies
This output consists of the Introduction, Cleminson’s own article, and his research contribution to the volume. This volume was generated by the editors' interest in the notion of the "mala vida" in the Hispanic World at the end of the nineteenth and beginning of the twentieth century. First, they wished to trace the anatomy of the concept; second, they sought to examine the transnational interconnections between discourse on the "mala vida" within the Hispanic World and between Spanish-language-speaking countries and others, such as Italy and France. Both literary and "scientific" fields were analysed in light of this twin objective.
