Northern Ireland in the Second World War - Politics, Economic Mobilisation and Society, 1939-45
Northern Ireland in the Second World War published by Manchester University Press is a substantial monograph consisting of 256 pages and containing 990 end note references. It is based on extensive archival research, notably at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland and The National Archives and contemporary newspapers, periodicals and pamphlets. The focus on politics, economic mobilisation and society during the Second World War is not neglectful of the broader context of Ulster’s history during the inter-war years and the study adds to knowledge of its war-time participation in and contribution towards the British war effort.
