Applied evolutionary computing was used for the first time to predict the behaviour of the masonry more accurately. This research has been presented in eg-ice (http://www.eg-ice.org/) and also ASCE conference in Austin Texas (invite to extend this to a Journal paper was received but not accepted). Due to popularity of this research our PhD researcher Dr Zhou was appointed as a professor in Harbin Institution of Technology (HIT, China). Follow-on collaborative research between HIT and Plymouth has produced a number of joint papers in the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering.
