Detection of the organophosphorus nerve agent VX and its hydrolysis products in white mustard plants grown in contaminated soil
This study was performed in close collaboration with Dstl, Porton Down. The findings have influenced NATO thinking on analytical support to investigations of alleged chemical weapon use and the analytical thinking of the Organisation of the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which ensures compliance of state signatories to the Chemical Weapons Convention. The results have been well received by US defence analytical laboratories Dstl collaborates with, enhancing the UK’s reputation. This paper was a most read and front cover article, highlighted in Chemistry World and by various media outlets and led to further funding via Dstl Detection Department Capability Development funding.
