Additional information

This paper deals with a challenging nonstationary deterministic and stochastic dynamic problem to predict transient resonance responses of moving elastic cables in an elevator system. The deterministic solution is found and then a novel stochastic model is developed. The work received recognition from the elevator industry and resulted in a number of commercial research contracts awarded to the University. The work reported in the paper informed the design of high-rise high-speed elevator systems worldwide.
