The study is expected to lead to a new generation of stimuli responsive nanomarkers. The article gained rapid popularity and has already received a large number of citations. I have subsequently submitted a research proposal based on this work to EPSRC. Moreover, collaboration with Professor Liangfeng Sun (Bowling Green State University, U.S.A.) and Professor Yan Vivian Li (Colorado State University, U.S.A.) is likely to develop as a consequence of this work. The editorial board of the, soon-to-be-launched journal, MRS Energy and Sustainability has invited me to author a critical review in the field to be included in the first issue.
