Un complexe princier de l’âge du Fer. L’habitat du promontoire de Bourges (Cher) (VIe-IVe s. av. J.-C.)
This volume synthesises evidence accumulated during urban rescue archaeological projects from 1980 in central Bourges, where significant earlier Iron Age deposits were recurrently recovered at the base of deep stratification. Combined with the results of research excavation within the structural footprint of the city’s medieval hospital, the evidence recovered, while partial, indicates a sixth and especially fifth century BC wealthy zone, including e.g. ceramic imports, painted plaster, clay brick, and indications of rich diet indicating a Fürstensitz, paralleled elsewhere to the East and here set in wider context, and co-located with the oppidum of Avaricum.
