Additional information

This work combines damage due to cyclic loading as outlined in previous papers with environmental degradation modelling which formed a major part of the outputs during the last RAE period. This provides a unique approach to modelling the environmentally degraded response of bonded structures subjected to any profile of loading, an essential step towards the ultimate goal of service lifetime prediction. This has been successfully applied to bonded aluminium laminates, provided by Airbus, which form an alternative method of aircraft wing construction. This model is being combined with laminate cracking in conjunction with Imperial, Airbus and BAe Systems.
