Additional information

This paper proposes a framework called Simultaneous Codeword Optimisation to tackle the problem of finding an appropriate representation for a signal of interest in signal processing. Under this framework, two algorithms have been developed for learning dictionaries from data. This algorithm has been included in the SMALL toolbox, a publicly available and widely-used sparse coding software toolbox. This work has also led to an invited talk on 2011 Allerton Conference in USA, a tutorial speech in 2013 ICASSP Conference in Canada, and seminars at UCL Belgium, Queen Mary University of London, Cardiff University, Brunel University and Sheffield University.
