A new hybrid SNR algorithm for use in DVB-RCS2 satellite broadband systems on the return link. It covers both QPSK and 8PSK schemes most used in these systems and produces better performance at lower complexity than existing schemes. Satellite user terminal equipment manufacturers (NEWTEK,STM) have shown interest and can easily incorporate the scheme into their terminal software for improved performance.
