Additional information

The paper presents two significant outputs: the adaptation and automation of agent middleware tools, and the integration of a hardware Java processor to an existing system-on-a-chip (SoC). This enables advanced Java programs to operate as optimised simulations on any hardware platform including embedded hard real-time devices such as FPGAs or smart-phones. Initially targeted at satellites, this research can be directly transferred to mobile terrestrial network applications such as Android. The work has gained recognition at the NASA/ESA Adaptive Hardware Systems (AHS) and the IEEE/AIAA Aerospace Conferences which led to Dr Bridges chairing a new session on the topic since 2011.
