Additional information

This research optimises the design of pixellated image sensors for use in beta autoradiography by combining a Monte Carlo simulation with a charge transportation model. A comparison is made between the imaging performance trade-offs invoked between pixel dimension, depletion region, and beta/electron radiation used in imaging samples with radioactivity commonly found in life sciences. This was produced from £2.5M MI3+ EPSRC grant that spun out ISDI Ltd - a dedicated CMOS imaging design house to make first use of such knowledge and associated IP. Surrey is currently working with ISDI to develop a commercial prototype device for life science imaging.
