Additional information

The paper presents a study of the effects of fast neutron damage study on the charge transport properties of high purity single crystal diamonds, and is one of the first studies carried out on this type of artificial high purity material, whose results are of interest for future developments of radiation hard detectors in high luminosity environments (like the Large Hadron Collider, fusion/fission reactor cores etc). The study indicates that in contrast to relativistic proton induced damage in polycrystalline material, detector degradation in synthetic single crystal samples by fast neutrons is already observable after fluences of only 10^12 cm^(-2).
