Additional information

This paper outlines a predictive structural modelling capability for hybrid GLARE-Aluminium laminated structures. This novel approach involves multi-site damage (adhesive, composite and aluminium) under both static and cyclic fatigue loading. Damage modelling techniques have been derived from the static and fatigue adhesive damage models discussed above. Extensive experimental and modelling work packages have been undertaken with damage assessed using backface strain and in-situ video-microscopy. Key failure processes have been identified and have been shown to be modelled faithfully. The correlation between the predicted and measured data is quite remarkable and provides strong validation and justification of the approach adopted.
