Additional information

The work has high impact for transparent electronics, touch-panel displays, energy-conversion with photovoltaics and organic light emitting diodes. It opens the possibility for large area semiconductor coatings that do not require vacuum deposition, with performance metrics far exceeding amorphous silicon, and being comparable to polysilicon. The main underpinning concept is based on spray-pyrolysis where Li doping of ZnO matrix is tightly controlled leading to exceptionally high electron mobility. Overall, this work opens opportunities for next-generation, low-cost transparent electronics to be manufactured in large-volume printing processes with dramatically reduced carbon footprint.
