Additional information

Stemming from a multi-centre collaboration including the National Centre for Advanced Tribology at Southampton (nCATS) The Division of Plastic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Drexel University College of Medicine, Pittsburgh, this is one of first papers to look at image based meshing techniques to explore bio-film detachment. The successful use of confocal microscopy as a basis for analysis has led to several successful grants including one funded by the Arthritis Research Council on the mechanical characterisation of cartilage (19342) and the British Heart Foundation on small arteries based on multi-photon imaging.
