Performance analysis of a reflective 3D crossed compound parabolic concentrating photovoltaic system for building façade integration
For the first time, a novel 3D compound parabolic concentrator unit is being used for developing LCPV devices. The paper demonstrated unique benefit of generating electricity and trapping heat within the building envelope, which resulted one UK patent (PCT/GB2012/053221), numerous other articles in the area. A spin-out company (VentanaSurya ltd.) is being established at the University and discussion ongoing with Scottish based SME, GridPost Ltd (Mr. Gerry Ferguson, email: gerryflanagan@yahoo.com) to licence the technology. The technology has direct impact on semi-transparent building envelop where adequate light and electricity can be generated depending on the load requirement.
