Additional information

This new class of reduced order model of tidal stream devices makes it computationally realistic for commercial tidal stream farm (>1000 devices) developers to undertake design multi-objective optimisation of large scale tidal stream farms. This lead directly to Belmont securing as PI a £1.1M EPSRC research contract under the SuperGen Marine Challenges call to implement optimisation of large tidal stream farms. The leading consultancy company in wind farm design, GL Garrad Hassan, is evaluating this modelling tool for commercial application for tidal farm design (Robert Rawlinson-Smith, Head of Business Development Turbine Engineering, robert.rawlinson-smith@garradhassan.com).
