Predictive current control of doubly fed induction generators
A new current control method, believed to be the first of this kind for doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind turbine systems, that considers the detailed digital control implementation and power converter nonlinearity, is proposed to achieve full control of the harmonic and negative sequence current. The research was built on previous studies on DFIG control and provides a simple approach but with better controllability especially during AC faults. The research fed into collaborative work with Zhejiang University [Prof Yikang He, ykhe@zju.edu.cn] and University of the Basque Country [gerardo.tapia@ehu.es], and led to further collaborative journal publications [10.1049/iet-pel.2009.0095, 10.1016/j.epsr.2009.12.010, 10.1049/iet-rpg.2012.0172].
