Additional information

Output from collaboration with Strathclyde Physics (UoA9), two international groups: ITN Lisbon, Portugal [Alves, ealves@itn.pt] and KU Leuven, Belgium [andre.vantomme@fys.kuleuven.be]; Bath University [d.wolverson@bath.ac.uk]. The critically evaluated results on the optical bandgaps and the AlInN alloy bowing parameter are critical input parameters in the design and simulation of novel devices using AlInN component layers. The initial research at Strathclyde on this alloy system was directly supported by BTG plc, leading to a granted US patent (7,566,579 B2, July 2009) concerning multi-role AlInN insertion layers in semiconductor laser structures.
