Additional information

This research proposes novel and practical methods for tuning multivariable proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers to reduce commissioning and tuning time of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) controllers. Unlike for scalar PIDs, there are not many practical methods in existence for MIMO systems; hence many industrial control loops are often poorly tuned. The method was successfully applied by Rolls-Royce to fin roll stabilisation [bill.mcdiarmid@rolls-royce.com].
