The ‘unit cell’ approach used in the previous paper is here extended to the problem of moisture absorption. Without explicit modelling, we are able to parameterise tow size, shape and weave style, and hence represent the microscopic heterogeneity of alternative reinforcement architectures. The result is a relatively simple predictive tool for the estimation of moisture saturation time.
