Double-weighted statement

This item has been selected for double weighting based on its scale and scope. It is a major monograph of 148,000 words, and comprises the principal research output of a four-year AHRC-funded project of the same name. It is the first full-length study of musicians' approaches to creating music in Restoration England, analysing material from across a core body of some 350 music manuscripts. In so doing, it develops a significantly new methodology for studying seventeenth-century musical sources, which challenges current assumptions about compositional processes in the period.
