Achieving zero permanent exclusions from school, social justice and economy
Known for his sustained engagement with DCSF/DfE exclusion monitoring data and policy on school exclusions, Parsons extends his argument in Strategic Alternatives to Exclusion from School project (Trentham Press, 2010) that zero exclusions are possible. A national conference and four regional workshops were run and the author was invited to give evidence to government select committees and the Children’s Commissioner and, subsequently on steering groups for the exclusions research for both. He is invited to address local and national conferences on how committed local authorities with their communities can successfully make permanent exclusions redundant.
