Agglomeration elasticities and firm heterogeneity
Paper develops a novel statistical methodology to estimate economic benefits of transport innovations by analyzing the link between economic productivity and accessibility using causal methods. This research has attracted substantial funding, including an ESRC grant with LSE (ES/J007382/1). It led to Graham being appointed Specialist Adviser to the Parliamentary Select Committee (2010-2011) and rapporteur to the OECD round table on Major Transport Infrastructure Projects (2011). The methodology advanced in this research forms a key input to official transport appraisal guidance in the UK and New Zealand (www.dft.gov.uk/webtag/documents/expert/unit3.5.14.php; www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/economic-evaluation-manual/volume-1/). The Journal of Urban Economics is the leading journal in the field.
