Sensitivity of flow simulations in a cerebral aneurysm
The patient-specific approach based on imaging and flow simulation to predict rupture risk for cerebral aneurysms has become accepted in the literature. Most authors find little sensitivity of their simulation results with respect to unknown or variable paramers such as inflow and outflow blood velocities. This paper shows that there can be significant sensitivity, which challenges the accepted paradigm. It proposes a novel approach to assess rupture risk. Reviewer comments: "Although this question is of the highest importance regarding the applicability of computational hemodynamics in the clinical routine, it is very rarely addressed in the archived literature"
