Y-GUI: A graphical user interface and pre-processor for the combined finite-discrete element code, Y2D, incorporating material heterogeneity
This paper is a development of FDEM technology applied to important geoscience and rock blasting applications. It was funded through collaboration with University of Toronto and led to an invited plenary lectures including DEM6 (Colorado 2013) and an invited mini-symposia at the International Symposium on DEM and Numerical Modelling of Discontinuum Mechanics (Beijing 2008). The work also led to development of Y-geo open-source simulation technology which is now used around the world and in particular by Politechnico di Torino (Prof Barla) and University of Toronto for consultancy to mining companies (Profs Grasselli and Mohanty).
