Anti-Windup Compensator Designs for Nonsalient Permanent-Magnet Synchronous Motor Speed Regulators
This paper describes the design and implementation of several anti-windup compensators to improve the behaviour of an industrial PMSM motor.. The work undertaken was part of an Industrial Case studentship awarded to MCT by TRW, Solihull. The results were well received by the company and led to the PhD student, Phil March (Phil.March@TRW.com), being offered permanent employment by the company. Dr. March is now Control Systems Team Leader for the EPS (Electrically Powered Steering group) at TRW. The paper has attracted significant interest from the research community and similar anti-windup schemes are being reported for other applications.
